The project “DO! DO! DO! It’s time for YOU!” has ended

The Cluj-Napoca Volunteer Centre is announcing the ending of the EVS project “DO! DO! DO! It’s time for YOU!” implemented between 15 of December 2010 and 15 of August 2011. In this project our organization hosted 8 volunteers from 6 countries for a period of 4 months: Fabio Mascialino (Italy), Katherina Wendlik (Austria), Johanna Steigenberger (Austria), Bo Alkemade (Holland), Sarah Foster (Northen Ireland), Edita Noreikate (Lituania) and Regimantas Puida (Lituania).

The 8 young volunteers planned and organized 14 events that were included in the tenth edition of the National Volunteer Week (SNV) held in Cluj-Napoca between May 9th and 15th 2011: VOLUNTEXPO – fair for organizations working with volunteers, Volunteers’ Parade, “Come and support volunteering” event, Eco Cafe, movie screenings, multicultural education lesson, Children’s day, Light into the night – event for the recognition of the work of volunteers, photo exhibition, three concrete volunteering actions – building cages for the dogs from a shelter, cleaning of two areas from Faget forest, arranging a sports field in Sandulesti and Volunteers’ Evening.

Besides the 14 events included in the 2011 edition of SNV, the 8 volunteers also organized a public campaign aimed at collecting food for a dog shelter, maintained a blog (http://www.inclujon.wordpress.com) where they posted articles about their experience as EVS volunteers and organized 8 presentations focused on the European Voluntary Service in universities and high schools from Cluj.

Through the activities of the project, the 8 volunteers had the opportunity to develop on a personal level, to live a multicultural experience, learn new things and not the least important, to learn Romanian.

The project was financed by the European Commission through the „Youth in Action” program which is managed in Romania by “Agentia Nationala pentru Programe Comunitare in Domeniul Educatiei si Formarii Profesionale”.
